What does the name mean?

The name means the “girl from New York”. The most popular name of Paleterias (paleta shops) in Mexico is “La Michoacana” meaning the girl from Michoacan, which many consider the birthplace of paletas. So the name was inspired by it. And the fact that Fany, the chef-owner feels like she´s a Newyorker but with strong Mexican roots as well.

Do you have a shop or permanent space?

It’s in the works. We’ve been looking for a space to open a Mexican Ice cream shop for several months but haven’t found the right space. We think it’s only a matter of time and look forward to finding our own place where you can come and visit us and see how we make our treats and sample our new creations.

Why Mexican flavors?

Because after writing my first cookbook "My Sweet Mexico" , I wanted to continue sharing the wonderful sweetness of the Mexican culture.

They are also flavors that I grew up with and not only love by i often miss as well. I do focus on these flavors but I also like to take advantage of what the seasons offer so the different creations are inspired by my history, my longing and mi surrounding.

Are your products organic?

They are organic whenever possible, working closely with the talented farmers around the New York/tri-state area. For our Mexican-sourced ingredients, we focus on bringing in the freshest products. Some products are by nature organic. While it exists, organic certification is slowly growing, mostly as a result of the larger organic movement as a whole. Basically we try to procure the best ingredients we can get our hands on, supporting small farmers and producers in Mexico who make the chocolate, chiles, and other ingredients we use.

Are your products all natural?

Absolutely! We don’t use any artificial colorings, flavorings or substitutions. Everything is handmade and natural.

Can you ship?

We are currently working on it. Contact us in the meantime; we do our best to accommodate all requests.

Are you available for special events?

Of course! We have several options. Party packs that we can customize to fit your needs and our cute party carts that can be filled with our awesome paletas, nieves or helados. These are great for your celebrations from birthday parties and bar mitzvahs to gallery openings and weddings.
